Electron-impact ionization of atomic hydrogen at 2 eV above threshold
The convergent close-coupling method is applied to the calculation of fully differential cross sections for ionization of atomic hydrogen by 15.6 eV electrons. We find that even at this low energy the method is able to yield predictive results with small uncertainty. As a consequence, we suspect that the experimental normalization at this energy is approximately a factor of two too high. PACS n...
متن کاملElectron-impact ionization of atomic hydrogen from near threshold to high energies
Abstract. Application of the convergent close-coupling (CCC) method to electronimpact ionization of the ground state of atomic hydrogen is considered at incident energies of 15.6, 17.6, 20, 25, 27.2, 30, 54.4, 150 and 250 eV. Total through to fully differential cross sections are presented. Following the analysis of Stelbovics [submitted to Phys. Rev. Lett. (http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/physics/9905...
متن کاملElectron impact ionization of atomic clusters in ultraintense laser fields
In this paper we report on inner ionization of Xen clusters (n = 55−2171) in ultraintense Gaussian laser fields (peak intensity I = 1015−1020 Wcm−2, pulse width τ = 25 fs, frequency 0.35 fs−1). The cluster inner ionization process is induced by the barrier suppression ionization (BSI) mechanism and by electron impact ionization (EII), which occurs sequentially with the BSI. We address electron ...
متن کاملThreshold electron-impact ionization mechanism for hydrogen atoms.
The near-threshold evolution of electron-impact ionization of hydrogen is revealed with measurements of the angular and energy correlations of the outgoing electrons down to 0.05 eV. The single-, double-, and triple-differential cross sections in the perpendicular plane are measured simultaneously using a dual wedge-and-strip detector on a single-toroidal energy analyzer, avoiding many experime...
متن کاملElectron-impact ionization of Mg
A pulsed crossed beam technique is used to measure ionization cross-sections of metallic atoms. Relative values of cross-sections of single, double and triple ionization of magnesium have been successfully measured with good accuracy over the 0-700 eV range. Absolute values of cross-sections have been obtained by normalization to a theoretical value at high electron energy. Results are compared...
